Carex forsteri, commonly known as Forster’s sedge or bush sedge, is a native New Zealand plant found in forest habitats . Coastal to montane. Usually in dense forest within high rainfall areas where it grows in wet seepages, depressions and along stream banks. Its large leafy tufts reaching 1.2m high, providing habitat for wildlife and stabilizing soil. Inconspicuous flowers give way to small, brown seed heads. Valued for its ecological role in forest ecosystems.
