Pennantia corymbosa, known as kaikomako, is a native New Zealand tree esteemed for its elegant appearance and cultural significance. With its glossy, dark green leaves and small white flowers, growing to 6m high. Pennantia corymbosa is found in lowland forests and coastal areas as it prefers milder tempertures. It has a juvenile growth form, very different to the adult. Its blue-black berries are cherished by native birds. Resilient and adaptable, it holds ecological importance. Low flammability species, suitable for green breaks and defensible space.
